Biography
Ayan Ahmed was born in 2000 in Somalia, Motoban. She came to Sweden as an eight year old along with her mother. Ayan felt lonely as an only child both in her country of birth aswell as in Sweden. Her loneliness and desire to make friends spurred her creative and artistic side to bloom at a very young age.
As a child she would often use her creativity to pass time or escape reality, she would use this outlet to create characters that could keep her company and make her forget about the loneliness she felt.
She did not grow up watching cartoons nor did she participate in activities in the same way that the other kids who were born in Sweden did. She only had Tom & Jerry and the characters she made up to keep her company.
Her dreams of becoming an actor was something that awakened early on in her life at six years old, when she would watch a Somali actor on the television with her mother. His name was Awkuuku and he would often act in theater shows. His incredible performances was something that resonated deeply with Ayan, and when he one time played a seven year old boy she almost felt like he could be her friend. It was at that moment when she realized that she wanted to do what he did.
However that dream would later on become true, however not in Somalia like she initially thought. Instead she started acting in Sweden. When Ayan was in her final year of high school she had heard about Snabba Cash casting from her friend who knew how talented she was. It immediately felt like a good fit for her but only realized when she was already partaking in the casting that the role she was auditioning for was written for boys only.
These news only made her more motivated and gave her the confidence to continue the pursuit of this role and step into the room. Ayan fought against all odds to accomplish the dream she had since she was six years old sitting in front of the tv. After all sweat and tears her dream would finally come true four months after the audition. The netflix serie Snabba Cash would become her debut as an actress and two years later Ayan Ahmed would have done two seasons where she grew tremendously as an actress and as a person. Now she has proven to herself that it was possible and that she was now a part of show business.
Ayan has also participated in another show called LIGGA, which is a comedic drama that came out in 2021 that came out shortly after Snabba Cash.
Ayan also writes scripts outside of acting, this is another way for her to express herself creatively, but she also uses it as an opportunity to hone her craft. Especially since she couldn’t read or write when she came to Sweden. Swedish is the first language she became literate in, even though it wasn’t her native language. On top of all this, Ayan also has another side gig; she currently works as a theater teacher for young people at a literature-favoring organization.
