Biography
He was born in Tehran/Iran, where he grew up until 19, when he went into exile in Sweden following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Davoud started at local radio by writing radio plays for adults and children and joined the amateur theatre Pegasus in Gävle/Sweden, where he studied his BSc in nursing sciences and cultural paedagogic as well as media sciences while appearing in plays about Swedish labour movements such as The Great Spectacle of The Train. He later moved to Uppsala, starting his professional gig at Theatre Da Capo in Uppsala. He then transitioned to Stockholm, where he took a year-intensive foundation course in acting.
Due to what he calls “the ethnically conservative Swedish cultural climate” that would do training within Swedish drama schools for those born and growing up abroad tricky at that time, Davoud went to train in the UK, initially at the Arts Ed, following the 9-11 events that contributed to a hostile and bullying atmosphere by some pupils there, although not many but as always the worsts impact loudest. This, plus the language barrier challenges for a new commer led that Davoud, following consultation from his tutors, attended at then Kensington / Chelsea Colleg at Wornington Centre(Nowadays Morley College) under the tutorial of Amanda Brennan, currently head of MA Acting at CSSD. Brennan’s down-to-earth and open-hearted approach contributed to establishing his linguistical ability. During the same training, he met Sam Rumbelow during an open lecture, who later became his tutor in the Lee Strasberg method for four years.
Davoud has started to explore Demidov’s theories, which have revolutionized his understanding of everything he had learned earlier.
